July 7 meeting

Speaker: Mary Kate Gulick, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation
Mary Kate Gulick, associate vice president, marketing strategy, Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, talked about how her organization works to help communities in a five-county area address needs for family services. According to Gulick, in 2013, 8.4 percent of Washington County children lived in poverty (kids ages 6 and under who qualify for free and reduced lunch). About 39 foster children live in Washington County today. 
Dr. Jill Reel was a guest at the July 7 meeting. She is the new pediatrician at Memorial Community Hospital & Health System's Blair Clinic. Dr. Reel, an Arlington resident, brings about 20 years of experience at Boys Town to Blair Clinic. 
 
Club assembly, officer installation this Tuesday
Blair Rotary's annual club assembly and officer installation is this week's meeting.
 
Help find prospective Rotarians!
Director of Membership Jim Nelson is asking for help finding names of prospective members for the club. Blair Rotary currently has 31 members; Jim's goal is to add 10 by the end of the year. Bring some names to the meeting this week! 
 
Committee members needed for fundraiser
Jim Nelson is seeking committee members for the silent auction at Blair Rotary's annual fundraiser. The event will have live bands instead of the piano show. Jim and other local musicians in an "unnamed" band will perform. Fever and the Funkhouse is also scheduled to play, Jim said.
